This course is designed to introduce students to the variety of careers in the health care field. These careers are divided into those dealing with therapeutic, diagnostic, informational, environmental, and biotechnology research areas of health care. Each of the professional areas will be explored as related to work performance, working conditions, hours and earnings, education and training, licenses, professional societies, personal qualification, employment outlook, entry and advancement. Students will learn medical language as a background for classes to follow in the student's chosen health field. Core technical skills will be developed within the classroom as well as a range of shadow experiences targeting areas of interest in the health care field.
